“Cry Wolf” is another novel in Mercy Thompson series, which stars a very different heroine. Mercy is subjected to paranormal affairs as she steps down to earth mechanic. The story begins with Charles Cornick -- an Alpha who is the son of Bran -- the Marrok and leader of all alpha werewolves, is investigating about a rogue werewolf who turned out Anna Latham into a werewolf, against her will and she was beaten down and brutalized. When Charles meets Anna, he identifies that she has been changed into a rare and precious Omega wolf with the ability to calm wolves and keep their violence in check. During investigation, Charles is shot by silver bullets which have subjected him to bad wounds while he was helping Anna.

It is brought to the notice of Bran that similar attacks are held near Marrok’s own territory in Aspen Creek, which made him to suspect that someone in his Alpha werewolf is out of mind and have decided to attack the public. But, Bran always wants to present a friendly opinion of the wolves to the world when they discover that werewolves inhabit this planet, too. So, Bran assigns next assignment to Charles who is still recovering from injuries and Anna insists on accompanying him on their journey in search of the evil-minded werewolf. Soon Charles and Anna are joined by Asil, an ancient werewolf and Walter -- an ex-soldier/werewolf and they team up together against the forces of evil and black-magic. Who is behind these brutal attacks? Can this Marrok’s team succeed in this battle?
