“Make Room! Make Room!” is a 1966 Sci-fi novel written by Harry Harrison that plots out the unrestricted population growth set in New York City. Grieving under the burden of 35 million inhabitants in this city, detective Andy Rusch is engaged in a desperate and lonely hunt for a murderer who has killed a very wealthy man, apparently the victim of an attempted robbery that went wrong. Andy lives in half a room where his roommate Sol -- a retired ex-army engineer lives along with him.
Andy is now on the desperate heat since he has to trace out the killer in this huge population. Only help that he can get in this case from this over-populated society is the victim’s girlfriend who lives one of the few functioning high rise apartments left in New York City. Soon Andy and the victim’s girlfriend get closer and moves in to his apartment. In the meantime, the killer returns back to the city after a couple of days. In the meanwhile, Andy gets depressed for the death of his friend and roommate -- Sol, who was injured severely during the protest against the revision of a legislative bill supporting family planning.
Soon, things get revealed for Andy, that the victim’s girlfriend seems likely to be the mistress of the killer. She used to go with rich people and satisfy them for money. Can Andy trap the Killer?
