The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown - Filled with Puzzles, Symbols and Historical secrets

Dan Brown is an American author who is well-known for his bestselling thriller fiction novels. His books have been translated into over 40 languages and also feature a common lead character Robert Langdon. His plot also follows historical themes, which is mixed along with his fictional scripts thereby gaining interests from the readers.

“The Lost Symbol” is a 2009 novel written by Dan Brown in which a conspiracy theory thriller is set inWashington DC. The plot takes place over a period of 12 hours in Washington DC, focusing on Freemasonry. Robert Langdon is a Harvard symbologist, who is summoned to give a lecture in National Statuary Hall in U.S. Capitol. Soon he discovers a disturbing object--artfully encoded with five symbols. Langdon recognizes the object as an ancient invitation, which will grant a long-lost world of esoteric wisdom.

In the meanwhile, Langdon's beloved mentor, Peter Solomon -- the Smithsonian secretary and a 33rd degree Freemason is brutally kidnapped by Mal'akh, who demands that Langdon should unlock the Ancient Mysteries in return for Peter's life. In order to save Peter, Langdon joins hands with Solomon's younger sister -- Dr. Katherine Solomon. The chase and the clues to the puzzles lead the duo to various places like Library of Congress, U.S. Botanical garden and many more.

In short, Brown weaves mystery, intrigue and humor in his third novel -- The Lost Symbol, as Langdon takes his journey into a clandestine world of Masonic secrets, which will drag him towards a single, inconceivable truth.
